Watervliet Public Schools Staff and some of their family members celebrated a successful school year after the close of classes today with a Hawaiian-themed cookout. Kudos to Terry Adams and the Nutrition Services Staff; grillmasters Brandon Waggoner and Ric Seager; beverage wrangler Joe Berthold; and everyone who helped to decorate the cafe. They created a wonderful luncheon for the whole WPS staff. Special thanks and congratulations go out to the WPS faculty and staff for making the 2023-24 school year awesome for our students!

Mrs. Kerry Wilson's 6th-grade social studies classes' final projects for the year had kids teaming up and learning about different countries across the globe. Each created posters with information about the country they had chosen. Today they finished up their projects with a food fair. They served food or beverage items native to the culture of the country they studied to visitors and other students. Many brought in articles made in the country they were studying to display along with their posters. One student representing Canada even played "Oh Canada" on her flute throughout the event!

Due to a threat at Hartford Middle School, all Watervliet campuses are currently on perimeter lockdown. No one will be allowed to enter or leave until an all clear is issued. WPS will provide details when the event is over.

A tornado was spotted near Buchanan at 4:58 PM and a warning was issued by NWS. It has since moved over Berrien Springs and Indian Lake. We are sheltering all students at WHS until 5:45. After that, students should be ready to leave. We are keeping students in the locker rooms at the gym. Thank you for your patience. Our students safety is our top priority and we appreciate your support as we make sure they are safe and out of harm's way.

On May 1 at 6 pm in the High School Media Center, the Watervliet Public Schools learning community will have the opportunity to view proposed curriculum resources for the 2024-2025 school year. Specifically, the review will make available the following: REAL ESSENTIALS - A sexual health curriculum for grades 5-12. Reveal - A K-12 Math curriculum. The Director of Curriculum will be available for questions at the public viewing.
