The Watervliet Public Schools Board of Education bid farewell to outgoing athletic director Ken Dietz on Monday evening, presenting him with a Golden Apple to commemorate his years of service to the District and his favorite Costco chocolate cake to cap off the final farewell. Board President Bill Spaulding and Superintendent Ric Seager made the Golden Apple presentation.
Ken has made a huge impact in the district with his work as a teacher, athletic director, and coach throughout the years, overseeing big changes, huge growth, and an abundance of successes. In his role as Athletic Director, he oversaw the addition of both boys' and girls' soccer programs, the initiation of the Hall of Fame Progam, facilities updates including the new turf football field, hosted many District and Regional tournaments, and most recently, celebrates a baseball State Championship. We congratulate Ken on his retirement from education and wish him the best in all his future endeavors.

THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to the following WPS faculty and staff who worked that last few days to earn their TCIS certification! TCIS stands for Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Support and is a program which helps adults respond to aggressive behaviors in ways that empower children, recognizing that aggression may be the result of past trauma.

The Watervliet Panther Baseball Team will arrive home victorious, this afternoon, having clinched their first ever State Championship title!!!!
The whole town is invited to celebrate at Panther stadium. It is planned that the team will have a police and fire department escort to the stadium from Safari Joe's beginning at 1:30 PM.
Festivities will include fireworks sponsored by Karla Smothers Insurance Agency and Tri-County Computer Services.
We couldn't be prouder of this group of young athletes, led by Head Coach Josh Tremblay. Way to go, Panthers!

As you know, the WHS Varsity Baseball team will play in the state finals tomorrow at 9 am in East Lansing. The team is leaving in vans from the high school today at 3 pm on the cafe/gym side of the building. All faculty, staff, parents, and community members are invited to come see them off before they head to MSU. They have worked hard, had an amazing season and would appreciate your well wishes, fist bumps and high fives before they take off.
TOMORROW, regardless of a win or a loss, we are celebrating the tremendous success of their season in Panther Stadium upon their return. We anticipate this will be around 2-ish, but will email and post out on social media when we have a definite time of their return--maybe 15-30 minutes in advance of their arrival. Please join us in the stadium to congratulate them and welcome them home to Panther Nation!
If you have questions or concerns about anything in this communication, you are welcome to reach out to Ms. Powers at cpowers@watervlietps.org.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our Panthers!
