Bond Construction Update
Watervliet Public Schools
October 30, 2026
Construction continues to move forward on our community-supported bond projects, and we're excited to share the latest progress!
Over the past several weeks, we've seen significant changes at the site of our new middle school cafeteria and WAY addition. What started as excavation and underground foundation work is now beginning to look more like a building, with exterior walls continuing to rise and the layout of the new spaces becoming easier to see.
MS Cafeteria & WAY Addition
Crews have made steady progress since our last update, reaching several important milestones:
Exterior walls continue to take shape. Construction crews are building the concrete block walls that will form the outside of the new cafeteria addition.
Window and door locations have been established. Crews have laid out where the exterior windows and doors will be located, giving us a better picture of what the finished addition will look like.
Additional wall construction is underway. Scaffolding has been installed so crews can continue building the exterior walls to their planned height.
Storage areas are taking shape. Construction of the new storage room walls is underway, along with the initial electrical work that will eventually provide power to these spaces.
The photos included in this update show how much progress has been made in just a few short weeks. With the foundations completed and walls rising, we're beginning to see the physical structure of the addition come together.
Looking Ahead
Construction will continue on the cafeteria and WAY addition throughout the school year. As the exterior walls progress, we'll continue sharing updates so our community can follow the transformation.
We also have two additional bond projects scheduled for the near future:
Spring 2027: Renovations to the high school girls' locker room are scheduled to begin.
Summer 2027: Construction of the elementary STEM additions is scheduled to begin, providing additional space for hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning.
Thank You, Watervliet!
We're pleased with the progress being made and appreciate the continued support of our community.
These improvements are possible because Watervliet voters chose to invest in our schools, and we're committed to making sure that investment translates into better facilities and learning opportunities for our students.
We'll continue sharing updates as construction progresses.
With Panther Pride!
