What is “STEM” and the importance of that program? STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. STEM programs blend together those subject matters into a curriculum. STEM programs help students develop key skills: problem-solving, creativity, critical analysis, teamwork, independent thinking, initiative, communication, and digital literacy. Students with STEM skills may have additional opportunities for employment and are more capable to meet employers' needs. Local employers have voiced their desire for workers with higher-level STEM skills for today's workforce.
