Panther Families: Due to adverse road conditions, WPS is canceling all PM activities tonight, January 22nd. It is predicted that the ice will let up around 6 PM, but come back in the early morning tomorrow. We await an update from the National Weather Service late afternoon before making a call regarding school attendance tomorrow. Please consider having a backup plan for kiddos for tomorrow as we will not know until late this evening what our plans for tomorrow will be. Please be on the alert for an all-call or text with additional information. Go Panthers, Ric Seager

Watervliet Public Schools apologizes for the errant robo-calls late last evening. This was not a result of WPS error, but rather a technical glitch from our vendor. We alerted the vendor of the issue when they opened this morning. They made the fix, stress-tested their systems, and have assured us that this error will not happen again. Additionally, you will see a Watervliet Schools' phone number on future automated calls, not an Arkansas or Virginia number. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience and our provider has assured us it will not happen again.

Watervliet Public Schools would like to thank all of our community members who took time to vote in yesterday's election. While we are disappointed with the results, we understand that our community has spoken. In the coming weeks and months, we will deconstruct this effort, actively seek input from community members, and determine our next steps. While the needs still exist, we will work with interested and engaged people to do whatever we can to build on the successes of the past and a better future for WPS. Thanks again for being a partner in Watervliet Public Schools
