All Watervliet Public Schools will be OPEN on Friday, December 6, 2024. Bus pick-up times may be slightly delayed as drivers will be driving with all necessary caution.
Good Morning:
Due to high winds and icy road conditions, all Watervliet Public Schools will be closed today, Thursday, December 5th. Decisions regarding evening games will be made after noon today.
If you must go out today, please exercise caution as roads are slick and wind gusts are very strong.
Due to oncoming, inclement weather all evening athletic competitions today have been cancelled. Middle school cheer and all high school practices are still on.
All middle school basketball practices have been cancelled.
Due to inclement weather, all Watervliet Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Look for information after 12:00 PM tomorrow regarding scheduled HS games.
Due to dense fog, all Watervliet Public Schools will be on a two-hour delay.
The Giving Tree is up at the middle school to collect kids' winter hats, scarves, and gloves for the students at North Elementary. Support your Interact Club and these students by bringing in your donation today !
MS Holiday Food Drive
NOVEMBER 2024 INTERACT SERVICE PROJECT !
Your WMS Interact Club worked with advisories during the past week to collect unused and left over Halloween candy. Today, bags of candy were delivered to the Great Lakes Dental Office in Muskegon, Michigan, which is the closest drop off site for the Treat for Troops program, which sends this candy as a reminder of home to our deployed service men and women. The winning advisory for donating the most candy for this service project is Mrs. Zuniga's advisory. They will snack on doughnuts and cider next week as a reward.

The MS Interact Club is collecting leftover and newly purchased candy (Halloween Candy) for the Treats for Troops program which sends the candy to our troops over seas to remind them a little of home. The advisory class that collects the most by the end of the advisory on Thursday of next week will win cider and doughnuts. The officers of the club will come around regularly to collect and weigh what you have each day next week and today. On Friday of next week, they will be taking the donated candy to a collecting site for donation. Anything that you can do to donate and collect leftover Halloween candy for this cause would be appreciated. Please send in with your child to their advisory next week! THANK YOU !

Here at Watervliet Middle School, we are excited to announce the beginning of the Science Olympiad season. This team is a group of motivated individuals motivated to learn and explore many topics of Science and show off their knowledge in a battle of Science! This club is a rigorous but fun academic event and requires that students demonstrate a passion for Science. Meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:30 PM in Mrs. Whitney’s room. (Please note that there may be additional meetings added, especially in March, as our competition day gets closer.) During this time, team members will actively participate and work cooperatively.
Like any other team activity, students must be in good standing academically and exhibit good citizenship. Students must also be positive role models, have excellent attendance, and be up-to-date on their schoolwork. Good sportsmanship runs deep in the Science Olympiad program. For some of the Olympiad challenges, students will be creating machines or devices to compete with students from other school districts. The students will get to do all their activities with a partner at their side—a truly cooperative and interactive adventure.
The Regional Competition is in March at Lake Michigan College. We realize that the competition is several months away. However, we need to start prepping our school team to be successful, so please consider your child’s participation. When a student signs up for the school team, there is an expectation of commitment to the team, practice dates, and the Olympiad event.
Also, as part of the Science Olympiad, students are asked to participate in at least one or more Middle School Concession Stand selling events and/ or Middle School dances to help raise funds to purchase supplies for use in Science Olympiad events. Parents are encouraged to help at these concessions as well.

Watervliet Middle School students will be participating in a Pink Out Day this Friday, September 20th in honor of a South Elementary student named Carly. Please bring your $1 donation and wear pink! Donations will be collected during Advisory classes on Friday.
INFORMATION UPDATE..
Tryouts for middle school girls' volleyball will be held Tuesday-Thursday this week, UPDATED time will now be from 3:30-5:00pm (instead of 5:30pm).
