Due to power outages and downed trees across many roads throughout the district, all Watervliet Public Schools will be closed today, May 16th.

Today, May 8, 2025, we experienced a malfunction of our duress system, leading to several lockdown alert initiations within a short period. These alerts were false alarms. Our Technology Services team worked with service providers to identify the bug and stabilize the system. At no time were any students or staff in peril.
We are working with our partners to determine why this happened and take appropriate actions to make certain the system is functioning properly at all times.
We know lockdown notifications can be unsettling for some of our students. However, as we discover any system integration problems, we are able to fix them and build a more robust security situation for our students and staff.
Thanks,
Ric Seager

The Michigan Department of Education invites you to capture a heartfelt 15-30 second video of your student thanking a teacher who's made a difference. Simply record it on your phone, and follow the submission instructions on the flyer or MDE website. Videos are being accepted until April 16, 2025.

Two 8th grade Interacters are volunteering at the North Berrien Senior Center distributing free meal boxes to seniors in our community today. This will be a monthly project for the club for the remainder of this school year. Thank you to Sativa Cardona and Michael Wigent for dedicating their time and service today!

We look forward to seeing all of our 8th grade parents at our next meeting !

All 8th grade parents are strongly encouraged to attend one of the two offered meetings on March 6th. This will be the first of 3 informational meetings to prepare your 8th grader for high school. The same information for this meeting will be presented to 8th graders in their social studies classes on March 4th. Please make sure that your 8th grader is in school on that day to hear this very important information. They will also hear from current 9th graders about the high school experience.

YOUR WMS Interact Club, decorated and stuffed goody bags that were delivered to the Meals on Wheels organization in Benton Harbor today to be delivered to nursing homes in the Watervliet-Coloma area. 35 bags were created. Thank you to our parents, students, and staff for donating all of the wonderful items that we were able to stuff the bags with.

Today the WMS Honor Club students traveled to Kalamazoo Valley Community College. They took a tour of the campus, played KVCC Jeopardy, made flipgrids, and visited the KVCC bookstore. They celebrated their learning in the afternoon with a trip to Revel and Roll West where they participated in bowling, laser tag, and they played in the arcade.

YOUR WMS Interact Club is in the final three days for donations for the Meals on Wheels December Service Project. Please consider donating any of the items below. They can be brought to Mrs. Sargeant at the middle school anytime. The club will be assembling the goody bags and delivering them before winter break. We appreciate your consideration.
