TONIGHT– LMC is hosting a college fair on their Benton Harbor campus. The event will take place at the Mendel Center from 6 to 7:30 pm. There will be representatives from more than 60 colleges and universities, plus military recruiters and information on scholarships and financial aid. Students must register to attend this event. To register, please visit the admissions section of LMC’s website or see Ms. Tyler in the Guidance Office

SPORTS:
Panther varsity volleyball wins second conference match of the season against Fennville. The lady Panthers stayed consistent throughout the match, leading them to a 3-0 victory, 25-12, 25-11, 25-10. Watervliet heads to Martin next week. Panthers continue to work hard as they prepare for upcoming matches.

SPORTS UPDATES
Congratulations to the Lady Panther Volleyball Team for their SAC Lakeshore Division opening victory vs South Haven. Suzannah Weckworth & Lauren Laws led the Panthers with 9 kills, Grace Chisek added 18 assists, and 3 blocks. Lauren Laws also had some big blocks and 9 total.
Anya Sexton came up big with blocks as well and Ellie Golden had the winning kill on the night. Thanks to the student section for their support.
The girls cross country team finished 7th out of 18 teams at the first conference jamboree held at Parchment. Morgan Lowell raced her way to a new PR finishing in 21:15 and snagging 9th place. Kimmy Romero equalled her best time ever posting a 22:17 to finish 18th. Ella Geisler ran a strong race to finish in 24:11. Marissa Lowell and Mimi Fenely rounded out the Panther scoring five with times of 25:59 and 26:22. McKenna Kirksey, Abby Lomoro, Amara Olexa, and Abbie Hayes all ran season best times.
The boys cross country team finished 11th in a field of 18 teams at the first SAC jamboree of the season. Danny Mandujano continued his fine form as he placed 2nd overall with a time of 16:53. The rest of the crew, Luke Isbrecht, Grayson Richards, Devin Geisler, and Dennnis Frazier, ran solid races to help the shorthanded Panthers grab a respectable team finish.

On June 12, 2023, Holy Family Healthcare, Flood's Vision Center, and WPS Migrant Department teamed up to sponsor a Health Clinic. Students (and some adults) received physical, optical, and dental exams. Those who participated received home supplies, a health kit, and a book bundle. All ate healthy food at the clinic's cafe. WPS students - Ari Jimenez-Ramirez, Ana Aguilera-Gallegos, Judith Aguilera-Gallegos, and Karla Cervantes - helped translate, organize, and distribute the free gifts!

JUNIORS AND SENIORS who would like to meet with a small group of WHS students and the MSU representative on Thursday, Sept 14th (next week), during your lunch time please email Ms. Powers to get on the sign up list. Only students who sign up to meet with the rep in advance will be able to.
Next Thursday Sept 14th will be the first newspaper club meeting for this school year. The club is open to all students. Email Ms. Powers if you plan to attend, so that we know who to expect. Meet in the media center at 7:30 AM.
There will be an interact club meeting on FRIDAY SEP 15th at 7:30 AM. If you have interest in joining this club this year or you just want to learn more, please come to this meeting. Last year's members should attend as well.
Interact is a service organization that works in our school and community. We meet twice a month at the high school before school and perform community service after school and on some weekends. We are affiliated with the Paw Paw Lake Rotarians.
Dual enrollment classes at LMC have started.. If you are having issues logging into your LMC Wavelink account to access your classes, please see Mrs. Tyler as soon as possible.
The last day to drop an LMC course with a full refund is Tuesday, September 16. If you feel you need to drop a course, please see Mrs. Tyler in the guidance office as soon as possible.
All students have been emailed a theme selection form for Homecoming; you have until noon on Tuesday, September 12 to submit your response.
Miss/Mr Watervliet sign-up sheet is in the HS main office; you must be at least 17 years of age but not older than 19 by April 1, 2024, have a current cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and live in the Watervliet School District. There will be an informational Tea on Sunday, October 8th @ 1:00 pm at Next Door Events in Watervliet.
A reminder that all students walk on the right side of the hallways when passing from class to class. In order to keep hallway traffic moving, please do not stop and stand in the middle of the hallway.
Announcements are now emailed to all students everyday. Check your email daily to make sure that you stay informed.

SENIORS: This Saturday is Flick on the Field! Meet at 8:00pm on the football field. No outside drinks. Water and popcorn will be provided. Bring blankets and snacks!
If you are an afternoon tech center student, when you return to the building at the end of the day, you are required to stay in the cafe area until the bell rings at 3:10, unless you are getting in your car and leaving school property. Do not come into the halls while the rest of the building is in class.
At this time we ask you to stand. The privilege of this day was made possible by those who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms that we enjoy. Let us respect and honor their efforts by standing, placing our hands on our hearts and reciting the pledge of allegiance. If you are wearing a hat, please remove it.

Our PBIS focus this week is technology. Get caught in the act of accessing your device appropriately and redeem the ticket in the main office for a treat.
We are now counting and documenting tardies. If you are not in class by the time the bell rings any time today, this week and going forward please come to the office for a tardy pass.

We are no longer making any schedule changes for semester 1.
If you are an afternoon tech center student, when you return to the building at the end of the day, you are required to stay in the cafe area until the bell rings at 3:10, unless you are getting in your car and leaving school property. Students who drive to school must register their vehicles with the main office. If you already have a sticker, you do not need to register your vehicle again. Beginning TODAY, all vehicles without parking permit stickers will receive citations.
