This week, students in Art I began their adventures in ceramics by learning vocabulary and making pinch pots. Second year art students finished their time with clay with a creative writing assignment. They each wrote a narrative telling the back story of their ugly jug.

YOUR JUNIOR January 2024 Student of the Month --Jocelyn Solis! My family consists of my mom, dad, and my 3 older sisters and 1 younger sister. I would say my favorite subject is anatomy because I have found what we learned in that class really interesting and fun. My favorite teacher would be Mrs. O’Toole because this is my second year having her for a different class and she has always been helpful and gives us a fun way to learn the new material in her class. I am currently not involved in any sports. In my free time I spend time with family and friends. My plans after high school is to go to college for either sonography or radiology. I am proud to be a panther because they provide many great opportunities for our interest and are a very encouraging community.

Good Morning Watervliet Panthers! Today is Friday February 2nd. My name is Jacob Schaefer and I am your Friday morning announcement reader. Today's lunch is an all beef hot dog. Monday’s breakfast is: cereal breakfast kit Celebrating a birthday today is: Tyler Woodson We are reviewing our PBIS expectations in the auditorium this week with your 3rd hour class. The Watervliet Wrestlers went to Galesburg-Augusta High School Wednesday evening, and came away with a pair of victories in team duals. In their first matchup, the Panthers took out the Parchment Panthers by a score of 48-24. Watervliet won every contested match in the dual, with Parchment only scoring by voids when we didn't have a wrestler for the weight class. Braizen Robart, Julian Velez, Sophie Wigent, and Luke Isbrecht all won their matches by pin. The Panthers followed that up by defeating the hosting Rams by a team score of 42-30. We would win 3 of 4 contested matches in this dual, with Julian, Luke, and Braizen all pinning their opponents once again. The team will travel to Constantine on Saturday to compete in the SAC Conference Tournament. All students are asked to complete our annual student survey in your third hour class. Your third hour teacher has a link. We will be sharing out and reviewing your responses in order to improve upon the programming, and climate at the high school. Please complete the survey and give us your honest feedback. Parent teacher conferences will take place next Thursday between 4-7 PM. All students and parents are invited. You will pick up an updated progress report and you can meet with any or all of your teachers. Students are strongly encouraged to attend with parents. Enter through the cafe side doors. There is an optional field trip to Stryker in Kalamazoo on Feb 15th in the morning. Students will hear personal stories about different career paths that are available in manufacturing at Stryker. There will be fun demonstrations of the equipment and products. If you are interested, sign up in the counseling office and pick up a permission slip. Also on Feb 23rd, there is an optional field trip to the SMC campus in Niles to learn more about the profession of welding. Again, pick up a permission slip on the main office if you would like to attend. The first phone alert for any student with a failing grade for the new semester will be sent home Next Monday Feb 5th. It’s time for a dual enrollment grade check. All dual enrolled students please show Mrs. Tyler your grades as soon as possible. At this time we ask you to stand. The privilege of this day was made possible by those who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms that we enjoy. Let us respect and honor their efforts by standing, placing our hands on our hearts, and reciting the pledge of allegiance. If you are wearing a hat, please remove it. I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Those are all of our announcements for today. Make it a great day or not Panthers, the choice is yours!
