The Lady Panthers left everything they had on the court last night and their efforts c paid off defeating the visiting Eagles of Schoolcraft.A back and forth game all night the Lady Panther dug down deep to out score the Eagles 14-4 in the 4th quarter to secure the victory.Outstanding defense, exceptional communication, coupled with a GREAT TEAM EFFORT all contributed to a Lady Panther victory.Next up is a Lakeshore Division matchup at South Haven Friday night.Proud of our Lady Panathers
On Tuesday night, the Varsity Boys' Basketball Team traveled east to take on the Parchment Panthers in a non-divisional contest. Behind a dominating defensive first half, our Watervliet Panther squad cruised to victory over the host Panthers by a score of 55-47. The team next takes the court on Friday night at South Haven. Tip-off is set for 7:30p.m.
There is an optional field trip to Stryker in Kalamazoo on Feb 15th in the morning. Students will hear personal stories about different career paths that are available in manufacturing at Stryker. There will be fun demonstrations of the equipment and products. If you are interested, sign up in the counseling office and pick up a permission slip.
Also on Feb 23rd, there is an optional field trip to the SMC campus in Niles to learn more about the profession of welding. Again, pick up a permission slip on the main office if you would like to attend.
The first phone alert for any student with a failing grade for the new semester will be sent home Next Monday Feb 5th.

The Boys' Varsity Basketball Team returned to divisional play on Friday night, playing for the second time this season the Fennville Blackhawks. In the Watervliet Gym, The Panthers jumped out to an early lead and carried the momentum throughout the game. It was an all-out team effort that lifted Watervliet to a 72-23 victory. The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Parchment for a 7:15 pm. tip-off.
The Lady Panthers used a big second quarter (22 points) to help take a 51-35 victory over the visiting Fennville Blackhawks.
The Lady Panthers travel to Bridgman on Saturday, January 27th to make up a game snowed out earlier this season.

Permission slips will be at the school beginning the 2nd week of February. Listen to the morning announcements for more detail on how to get yours. Parent signature is required even if the student is 18 yrs old.
The purpose of the After Prom is to provide a safe, drug/alcohol-free event for the Junior & Senior students of Watervliet and their guests.
When: Sunday, May 12th, 2023, 12:00am to 6:00am.
Where: Urban Air Adventure Park - 12331 James Street, Holland, Michigan 49424
Cost: $10 (hardship cases, call Shelley Chisek at 269-921-5981) includes the following:
Ride to and from Urban Air, everyone must ride the bus BOTH WAYS to attend.
late night dinner buffet and snack
Who can attend: Any Watervliet Junior or Senior (and their guest - no Freshman or younger) – even if you do not attend Prom.
What to wear: Please come in casual, comfortable attire.
What to do: Battle Beam, Warrior Course, Climbing Wall, Virtual Reality, Ropes Course, Wipe Out, Sky Rider, The APEX Trampolines, Trampoline DodgeBall, Slam Dunk and More. There will also be a couple of rooms room with movies going for some downtime if you get break.
We ask that students do not bring any bags, if they do, they will be searched. Absolutely no outside drinks or food allowed.
We will be leaving promptly at 12:00am from the gym lobby; everyone MUST ride the bus BOTH WAYS to attend. If you sign up to attend and do not show up, we will be notifying parents.
Once we are at the center, no one can leave, no exceptions; everyone will ride the bus back to the high school, with an arrival time of approximately 6:00am. Student to have transportation waiting at the High School (picking up your student is recommended - as they have been up all night)

Due to icy road conditions, all Watervliet Public Schools will be closed today, January 23, 2024. A decision will be made regarding evening activities by noon today.
Back roads are very dangerous at this time and will be for the next few hours. Please be VERY CAREFUL.

Due to adverse road conditions, WPS is canceling all PM activities tonight, January 22nd. It is predicted that the ice will let up around 6 PM, but come back in the early morning tomorrow. We await an update from the National Weather Service late afternoon before making a call regarding school attendance tomorrow.
Please consider having a backup plan for kiddos for tomorrow as we will not know until late this evening what our plans for tomorrow will be. Please be on the alert for an all-call or text with additional information.

There is a very important senior parent meeting this Wednesday at 6 pm. Senior parents are encouraged to attend.
The Watervliet Boys' Basketball team resumed conference and divisional play on Friday evening with a trip to nearby Coloma to take on The Comets. The Panthers used a stifling first-half defensive and rebounding effort to take a commanding lead over Coloma and battled aggressively the rest of the way and secured the victory 57-36.
The Panthers return home on Wednesday night to play Niles Brandywine in a make-up game that was originally scheduled to be played this past Monday at Brandywine. The game at Watervliet Gym is at 7:00 on Wednesday night.
The Lady Panthers raced out to a 14 - 5 first quarter lead and never looked back-beating Coloma 47 - 16. The Lady Panthers had three players score in double digits. Chisek led with 17, Cladwell and Laws added 10 each. The Lady Panthers host Fennville next Friday and travel to Bridgman on Saturday for two more SAC Lakeshore divisional games.
