Dear Senior Families: The FAFSA is now open and able to be completed! Students who can complete the FAFSA by December 20th (within the first 20 days that it is open) will receive a free goody bag from Ms. Powers. Students who complete the FAFSA by Spring Break will be able to participate in the Pie a Staff Member in the Face event, in which students get to pick the staff member of their choice to pie in the face before leaving for spring break. Mr. Coburn, our certified FAFSA expert, will be meeting with your Senior in the next month to ask the following questions: (1) where have you applied? (2) where have you been accepted? (3) do you have your FSA ID? If you would like to meet with Mr. Coburn to get assistance in completing the FAFSA, please reach out to him at christopher.coburn@watervlietps.org. He is available during and after the school day to meet with any parent who would like assistance. It only takes 30 minutes to complete the FAFSA once you have all of the needed information: FSA ID for both parent and student, 2023 tax information, total current account amount for both parent and student, net worth of any businesses, SS # for both parent and student, and a list of all of the schools to which your Senior has applied. It is our goal that 100% of the Class of 2025 completes the FAFSA this year. Whether your child is headed to post secondary training or not, plans can change over the summer. We want your child to be ready for whatever comes their way in the Fall of 2025 with a completed FAFSA! THANK YOU !

Let us respect and honor their efforts by standing, placing our hands on our hearts, and reciting the pledge of allegiance. If you are wearing a hat, please remove it. I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Those are all of our announcements for today. Make it a great day or not Panthers, the choice is yours!

Good Morning Watervliet Panthers! Today is Monday, November 11th. My name is Alyssa Brown and I am your Monday morning announcement reader. Today’s lunch is rotini pasta w/meat sauce, WG garlic bread, fresh grapes Happy Birthday to Brooklyn Richardson. Student Council is sponsoring a Food Drive. Please bring in all non-perishable items to your 7th hour teachers. Who’s going to win a pizza party? Let’s all step up and help families in our community. Girls Varsity Volleyball beats Bridgman 3 - 2 to win District Title! The District Championship match was an absolute battle! Both teams came with a strategy and did well executing what they had planned. But the Panthers capitalized on offensive opportunities and defended Bridgman's big attacks and strategic tipping. Neither team gave up but the Panthers played hard, cheered, and supported each other and defeated the Bees! Bridgman will be hosting Regional play on Tuesday, November 12th at 5:30pm. Watervliet will face Bronson. Just a reminder that students are not allowed to leave the cafeteria during your designated lunch time. Do not walk into the science hallway or leave through the double doors until the supervising adult in the cafe dismisses you. Also students cannot drive to school and then pick up a driving registration form to park on school property. Pick this up in the main office before you drive to school for the first time. You are risking being ticketed or towed when you have a car on school property that is not registered. 3rd hour teachers are reviewing the cafe expectations in 3rd hour this week . Students, if you lost your earbuds or cases, there are 11 cases (some containing earbuds) in the main office; please stop in the office to see if one belongs to you. Cheer tryouts air this week beginning TODAY from 3:30-5:30 in the auditorium! Make sure to have a current physical on file. Please wear appropriate practice clothing with tennis shoes & bring your own water bottle. Tryouts are open to everyone!! We have a new coach this year and are very excited for a fun season! If you have questions, please see the office to get Coach Heather’s email. It’s time for another dual enrollment grade check. All dual enrolled students please show Mrs. Tyler your grades as soon as possible. Earning a PBIS raffle ticket for demonstrating RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and SAFETY in the classroom are: Javion Veal, Chris Murphy, Alexis Coburn, Tyler Cole, Deondre Rose, Sophie Wigent, Katelyn Brown, Alyssa Brown, Riley Preston, Gabriel Shotts, Come to the office now to pick up your candy or coupon. The annual big buck competition starts Nov 15th. Check your email for details. Today we celebrate Veterans’ Day, which is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.[b][1][2] It began, and now coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are commemorated in other countries, marking the anniversary of the end of World War I.[3] Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. At the urging of major U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.[4] Veterans Day is distinct from Memorial Day, a U.S. public holiday in May: Veterans Day commemorates the service of all U.S. veterans, while Memorial Day specifically honors those who have died while in military service.[5] To our local veterans–We Thank you for your sacrifices and hard work in service to our country. We appreciate how hard you worked to ensure that we continue to enjoy our freedoms. At this time, please join me in a moment of silence as Sam Roland and Aaron Alvarado play Taps. At this time we ask you to stand. The privilege of this day was made possible by those who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms that we enjoy.

This week in art, Sculpture students explored the possibilities of using paper and cardboard as materials for creating sculptures. Advanced Art students took on the challenge of painting still lifes with sticks instead of traditional brushes, aiming to produce artwork that is loose and expressive.
