CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR JUNIOR MAY 2025 STUDENT OF THE MONTH--ELLA ISBRECHT!
Ella was nominated by Mrs. Sibley and Ms. Irmen.
Mrs. Lefor shared about Ella: I truly enjoyed having Ella in class for two years, she was always a hard worker and focused to ensure she got her work done. She is a quiet leader and I can see her going to amazing places in the future.
-My family consists of my parents and my brother. My mom has a job at home in her office where she helps people find grants for medical reasons, and she also has a new job at a hospital. My mom is hardworking, caring, and thoughtful. She is my biggest role model and is someone I look up to all the time, especially when I need help. My Dad works at a printing company, and he also helps with a social media page for his job. My dad is very funny and is always doing projects. He loves to build parkour/areas for our cats, and he has built me many cute things in the past. My brother works at Pizza Hut and is looking for a future career in something related to art. We also text each other about funny things, and he buys me food when I'm hungry or if we don't like what's for dinner.
-My favorite class this year has been Chemistry because the teacher, Ms. Irmen, makes the class really fun, she helps me understand the material, she gets to know more about me than other teachers, and this is the first year I've gotten an A for 2 semesters in a science class.
-My favorite teacher is Ms. Irmen because she's kind, funny, helpful, and gets to know me. She often has praised me for my good work ethic, and we'll have long conversations about random stuff. She makes me enjoy science a lot more and she makes me look forward to her class every day.
-I'm involved in Soccer. I made the Girls' Varsity Soccer Team this year and was a starter for most of the season. This was my 3rd year of soccer in high school, and I continued to do it next year as well.
-In my free time I like to go out, which consists getting food, doing activities, going shopping, etc. I also like hangout with my friends, or relaxing during my free time as well.
-After High School I plan to go to college at either GVSU, Western, or Michigan and then pursue a career related to design after college
-I am proud to be a WHS Panther because the community is great, all opportunities are equal to everyone, and the school connects with the students to help the school have a fun year, every year!

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR MAY 2025 JUNIOR STUDENT OF THE MONTH--SUKHPREET SINGH!
Sukhpreet was nominated by Dr. Mosher., Mr. Weber, Mrs. Bruce, and Ms. Irmen
Mr. Andrews shared about Sukhpreet: While I do not have Sukhpreet this year, I did have him a year ago. Sukhpreet came to Watervliet after last school year had started, which is challenging enough, but he was also coming from a different country which makes it infinitely more challenging. While he no doubt had his struggles, his effort level was always high. His desire to understand and achieve was always evident. With this award it shows that not only has Sukhpreet overcome many of the challenges he has faced, but he is thriving. I am extremely happy to see that.
I have 1 brother. He is a sophomore. My mom and dad live in India. I live with my uncle and aunt. My favorite class is Chemistry. I like this class because it helps me to know about the chemical reactions and the effects of it, which I feel interesting. My favorite teacher is Ms. Irmen And Ms. Stofko because they both teach us very friendly and if I am right, Ms. Irmen just four or five year older than us so I think she knows everything like what students feel about every subject than other teachers. If we need any help, they teach us separately. They help everyone. I feel proud to be their student. I am not involved in any sport, but I like volleyball because it’s my favorite game. I was a player of volleyball in India. In my free time I talk with my friends. I want to go to collage after school. I proud to be a student at WHS because we have very helpful students and staff.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR MAY 2025 SOPHOMORE STUDENT OF THE MONTH--ELIZABETH TORRES!
Liz was nominated by Mrs. O'Toole, Mrs. Simmons, and Mrs. Richcreek.
Mrs. Hollandsworth shared about Liz: Lizzie is an exceptional student whose talents and character stand out in every setting. She is an excellent musician who has learned and excelled at many different instruments. Beyond her musical abilities, Lizzie is a thoughtful and compassionate person who is always willing to lend a hand. Her strong work ethic and genuine care for others make her not only a valued member of any group but also a true role model among her peers.
I live with my mom, dad, my older brother, my sister-in-law and my sister, who is a foreign exchange student from the Basque region. My other older brother is currently in Tech School for the Air Force. I also have 3 younger siblings, along with one more older brother. My favorite class this year has been US History. I really enjoy History, and Mr. Andrews teaches it in a fun way. In this class, I feel like I learned so much that I had never known even happened. We also do a little extra trivia every day, which I always look forward to. My favorite teacher is Mrs. Hollandsworth because she taught me how to step out of my comfort zone and do things that are uncomfortable at first. She also taught me how to speak up for myself. I participate in robotics and marching band. In my free time, I like to play guitar, run, and sometimes golf. After high school, I hope to get my associate's degree through the EMC program and go to MSU for something in the FBI field, forensic science, or CSI. I am proud to be a WHS Panther because of the teachers and extra educational opportunities.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR MAY 2025 SOPHOMORE STUDENT OF THE MONTH--KYLE DOMINGO-STURGEON.
Kyle was nominated by Mrs. Lefor and Mr. Andrews
Mr. Andrews shared about Kyle: Kyle has been an absolute bright spot every morning in my first hour class. He always comes in with a smile and a friendly greeting. He is always engaged and ready to take on whatever it is we are doing that day. His kindness and positivity with everyone around him has rubbed off on his classmates and helped make his class one of open and honest discussion and debate. He has genuinely helped create an incredibly positive vibe in his class. I will miss having Kyle in class to start the day.
My name is Kyle Domingo. I'm a current sophomore at Watervliet High School. I have one older brother and one younger brother. My oldest brother graduated from Watervliet in 2024 and my younger brother is currently a freshman here at Watervliet. I have a little sister in middle school here as well. My mom is probably my biggest role model and I can't thank her enough for everything she has done for me. My favorite class is Spanish. I like Spanish because of the way it's taught and everyone in my class gets along well. I learned so much this year in this class and I'm thankful I have the opportunity to take it. My favorite teacher is Mr. Andrews for many reasons but every morning I walk into his class I come ready to learn. I enjoy the way he teaches History and is always there to help if needed. Having him as my first hour teacher really gets my day off to a good start no matter what my mood is. I play basketball, baseball, football and I'm going to be running track again next year. I like all the coaching staff here at Watervliet . They push me to be the best I can inside of sports and outside. I'm currently in one club and it's the Virtue Club. I recommend this club for anyone who just needs to hear God's word. It's a safe place to talk about stuff and everyone will welcome you with open arms. In my free time I like to listen to music, see my friends and play basketball. After high school I want to try to go pro for one of the sports I do but if that does not work out I want to go to the Army. I'm proud to be a Watervliet Panther for many reasons but I think the most important is to represent our district and show other schools our pride here at Watervliet.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR MAY 2025 STUDENT OF THE MONTH--LILLYANNA KIRBY!
Lillianna was nominated by Mrs. Lefor, Mr. Dimino, Mr. Corkins, Mrs. Simmons, Mr. Linderman and Mrs. Richcreek
Mrs. Lefor shared about Lillianna: Lilliana, you are such a kind person. I appreciate your hard work and your willingness to challenge yourself in class. Your final project for Spanish was amazing! The fact that your group was able to make up their own game and make it interactive on a computer was a refreshing change to see.
I have 4 parents: Mom, Dad, Stepmom and Stepdad. I'm also the oldest of my 7 siblings. I can't forget my bearded dragon, Bowser. My favorite class has to be Theatre. I plan to do it the rest of my high school career and into college. I just love acting and performing. I can't choose a favorite teacher. I love them all and they teach wonderfully. I may not show it often but I do like all of my teachers. I do winter and fall cheerleading, and it has to be one of my favorite things to do. We have great coaches and the team is like a family. In my free time I enjoy painting, listening to music, archery, practicing the bass guitar, and hanging out with my friends. After high school, I plan to go to college here in Michigan, where I want to get a degree in Performing Arts and Theatre, and maybe a teaching degree of some sort. I am proud to be a WHS panther because we have a great school environment and we are like a family.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR MAY 2025 FRESHMAN STUDENT OF THE MONTH--BROOKLYN SMITH!
Brooklyn was nominated by Mr. Corkins and Mrs. Hunt.
Mrs. Lefor shared about Brooklyn: Brooklyn, AKA Daniella, thank you for your positive attitude and the help you give in class. I want you to know I notice the help you give your classmates and the care you have for them as well. You are a kind and compassionate person. I am hoping to see you in class next year!
I live with my mom and my brother. I don’t have one favorite class, but I have a few. I like Spanish because of the teacher and the opportunity to learn a new language. I like history because this year history has been interesting and has made me want to learn more about history. I also like art. I loved the art projects we have done this year, and I love the art teacher, Mrs.Hunt. I didn’t like science at the beginning of the year, but as we started talking about clouds and weather, I got more interested in it, and I like science more. I don’t have just one favorite teacher, but again, I have a few favorites: Mrs.Hunt, because of how encouraging and nice she is, Mrs. Lefor, because her Spanish class is always fun, and Mr.Corkins because he’s always cracking jokes in class, and he makes science class fun, Mr. Linderman would also be one of my favorite teachers, because his class is always fun. I am currently involved in the student council, and I plan on playing volleyball in the fall. In my free time, I like to hang out with my pets, friends, and cousins. I also like to read and cook. After high school, I plan on going to college, and I don’t know what for exactly, but I have two very different options I want to pursue. I would either like to be a meteorologist or a nurse. I am proud to be a WHS panther because the teachers are very nice, and the school encourages us to pursue college after school.

SPORTS RESULTS:
The golf team closed out their season on Tuesday finishing a respectable 10th out of 22 teams at the Regional Tournament at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek.
The only underclassman to participate for the Panthers, Connor Van Lente, finished out a very good Freshman campaign with a 95. At this time we ask you to stand. The privilege of this day was made possible by those who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms that we enjoy. Let us respect and honor their efforts by standing, placing our hands on our hearts, and reciting the pledge of allegiance. If you are wearing a hat, please remove it. I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Those are all of our announcements for today. Make it a great day or not Panthers, the choice is yours!
