Watervliet Public Schools Selects West Michigan Education Foundation to Lead Superintendent Search

WATERVLIET, MI – On Monday, November 12, the Watervliet Public Schools Board of Education officially selected the West Michigan Education Foundation (WMEF) to lead its upcoming Superintendent Search.

The Board interviewed three highly qualified firms before selecting WMEF, citing the organization’s strong track record of successful searches and deep familiarity with Southwest Michigan as key factors in their decision.

“We were impressed with WMEF’s understanding of the needs in our region and their commitment to supporting the Superintendent and Board during and after the search,” said Bill Spaulding, President of the Watervliet Board of Education. “We’re confident they will help us identify exceptional candidates who align with our community’s vision for the future of Watervliet Public Schools.”

The search process will begin immediately, with candidate interviews scheduled to take place in March 2026.

As part of the initial phase, all individuals connected to Watervliet Public Schools—including staff, parents, students, and community members—are encouraged to share their input through a community survey. The survey will help define the characteristics and qualities the district values most in its next superintendent.
