In the Semi-Final District round - Watervliet took on Lawton and got the 14-0 mercy. Caleb Jewell got the Win on the mound - Giving up just 1 hit and striking out 6 and Alex Hicks closed the final 3 innings. Panther Hitters: Wyatt and Owen Epple (4 Singles each) Kaiden Bierhalter (Double / Single) Chase Tremblay and Jewell (2 Singles each) Aidan Bethea (Triple) Sam Crago (Single) The Win moves the Panthers on to the Finals to face Schoolcraft. Watervliet took on Schoolcraft in the District Finals and came away with the 3-2 Win. This is the Panthers 3rd straight District title. Wyatt Epple got the Win on the mound with relief from Chase Tremblay and Caleb Jewell (Save). Good Morning Watervliet Panthers! Today is Monday June 3rd. My name is Ayana Marshall and I am your Monday morning announcement reader! Congratulations to the following athletes that participated in all kinds of weather over the weekend at the State Finals in Track and Field; Anya Sexton, Daniel Mandujano, Tia Caldwell, and Morgan Lowell. All 4 athletes have trained their whole high school career to compete against the rest of the state qualifiers, this weekend all of their hard work paid off. Anya Sexton threw 129 feet placing her 3rd in discus. Great job, Anya, for being top 3 in the state! Daniel Mandujano had a phenomenal run in the 1600m run with a time of 4 minutes and 27.29 seconds, just 1 second off of beating the school record. He also competed in the 3200m run with a time of 10 minutes and 2.08 seconds. Tia Caldwell persevered in the 400m run with a time of 62.22 seconds. Morgan Lowell ran steady in the 3200m run with a 10 second PR ending with a time of 11 minutes and 58.55 seconds. Throughout the entire season these athletes have shown that hard work truly does pay off! The school, community, friends, family, teachers, and coaches are all extremely proud of you! It was the end of the season for the Panther Golfers as a team for Regionals today at Hawkshead golf course in South Haven. The team finished 11th, but Alex Sexton has qualified for the state finals! Junior Tyler Asakevich finished the year looking forward to next year as he shot team low rounds this year. The other two players from today were Reise Bulat and Connor Zwar who are both seniors and will be missed greatly. They have been great examples for future Panthers. Alex Sexton a junior played a solid round and finished with an 84. That meant Alex finished 5th out of 81 players! Alex will move on to play in the state finals at Katke Golf Course at Ferris State University on 6/7. Congrats Alex.

It’s official, Abby Whorton will be playing softball for Hope College starting next fall. The senior signed on to play for the Flying Dutch last week at he last home regular season game vs Hartford on Senior Night. Whorton has multiple honors from all division to all district and a defensive player of the year award last season as a catcher. Abby also played volleyball and basketball for the Panthers. Abby is the daughter of Dan and Andrea Whorton.

YOUR JUNIOR MAY 2024 Student of the Month--JUDITH AGUILERA! I have two supporting parents and 2 sisters. My favorite class is Anatomy because we learn many different things there and it's taught by one of my favorite teachers which is Mrs.O'toole, her class always makes me feel very welcomed and I know I can ask her anything if I ever need help with something. During my free time I like to go outside, walk around, and listen to music. After high school I plan on going to college and entering a Law Enforcement Academy. I am proud to be a WHS panther because there are so many great teachers and students here.

YOUR FRESHMEN MAY 2024 Student of the Month --HAILEY ADAMS! My family includes me, my dad, my mom, and my sisters-- Mckinley and Felicity. McKinley is in 6th grade and Felicity is in 2nd grade. This year my favorite class has been art because I like to make different projects and be creative. My favorite teacher has been Mrs. Simmons because I have had her for the past two years and I can talk to her comfortably and she is very nice. I play basketball, run cross country, and do track and field. I am in the SAC, and student council. In my free time, I like to work with my horse Levi. My plan after high school is to go to LMC for a business degree. I am proud to be a WHS Panther because the people here are nice and kind. I am proud because of the things we can accomplish and have accomplished.

Morgan Lowell, Kimmie Romero, Marissa Lowell, Ian Coleman, Ezequiel Cardoza, Daniel Mandujano, along with our middle schoolers Tony Perez and Sam Casciano, showcased their talents with remarkable personal bests. A special shoutout goes to Daniel Mandujano for shattering a school record that stood since 1995, clocking in at 9:38.68 for the 3200M.
