Bond Construction Update
Watervliet Public Schools: October 2026
We’re excited to share another update on the progress of our community-supported bond projects.
Since our last update, work has continued on the new middle school cafeteria and WAY addition. We’ve now reached an important milestone: the foundation work and backfilling are complete.
If you’ve driven past the construction site recently, you may notice that things look a little different. Much of the concrete foundation that was visible in our last update has now been surrounded and covered with compacted material. That may not look like a major step forward, but it means the groundwork for the new addition is in place and crews can continue moving toward the next stages of construction.
Middle School Cafeteria & WAY Addition
Over the past several weeks, crews have completed the foundations, footings, underground drainage work, and now the backfill around the new addition.
The photos in this update show just how much the site has changed. Areas that were previously open excavation are now filled and prepared for the work that will eventually create the floor and structure of the new space.
As construction progresses, we’re getting closer to the point where the addition will begin to take shape above ground and the progress will become much easier to see.
Looking Ahead
While work continues on the cafeteria and WAY addition, two additional projects remain on the horizon:
Spring 2027: Renovations to the high school girls’ locker room are scheduled to begin.
Summer 2027: Construction of the elementary STEM additions is scheduled to begin.
Thank You, Watervliet!
Thank you again to the Watervliet community for making these improvements possible. We’ll continue providing regular updates as the work progresses so our community can follow how its investment is taking shape across Watervliet Public Schools.
With Panther Pride!
