Watervliet Public Schools Board of Education Seeks to Fill Vacancy

Watervliet, MI, April 24, 2024: The Watervliet Public Schools Board of Education is seeking qualified candidates for an interim placement on the Board of Education, made available by the resignation of Trustee Eric Laws.

“We are grateful for the exceptional boardsmanship exhibited by Mr. Laws over the past six years and wish him the very best in his future endeavors”, said Superintendent Ric Seager. “State law and Board policies outline the timing and process for filling this opening, and the Board of Education is moving forward with finding a person to complete his term.”

Seager continued, “Mr. Laws’s term ends December 30, 2024. However, his resignation is effective at the end of June. Therefore, the Board must appoint a person, within 30 days of the effective date of his resignation, to complete his term of office.”

Individuals seeking to be considered for this interim position should submit, in writing, a notice of interest outlining their qualifications for the role and an updated resume. A subcommittee of the Board will screen applications and interview prospective candidates in May and make a recommendation to the full Board at the June Regular Meeting. Interested candidates are asked to submit their materials to Deah Muth, Secretary to the Board of Education, by noon on May 6, 2024.
