✨ What is CKH and Why Does It Matter? ✨

At Watervliet High School, we are proud to use Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) — a nationally recognized program that helps us create safe, connected, and supportive classrooms where students can thrive.

Through CKH, students and teachers work together to build strong relationships, create classroom social contracts, and practice positive communication. This gives students the tools to:
✔️ Respect themselves and others
✔️ Take ownership of their choices
✔️ Build trust and teamwork
✔️ Strengthen leadership skills

When students feel valued and connected, great things happen — from higher engagement in learning to stronger friendships and better problem-solving.

We love seeing our Panthers grow not just academically, but also in character, confidence, and kindness. 💜🐾

Together with our families and community, CKH is one more way we are building a culture of Panther Pride that lasts far beyond the classroom.

🎉🐾 Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Panther of the Week! 🐾🎉
Congratulations to: Mr. Bill Tiefenbach
This week’s unstoppable Panther is none other than Bill Tiefenbach!
Mr. Tiefenbach is the tech superhero of WHS. He makes sure every student and staff member has the right device in hand to start the year strong. From organizing and distributing Chromebooks, to helping teachers with their laptops, to swooping in to troubleshoot every tech hiccup—Mr. Tiefenbach is always there to save the day.
He doesn’t just fix problems—he keeps our whole school moving forward. Without Mr. Tiefenbach’s dedication and patience, we’d be stuck in “loading…” mode all year long. 💻⚡
Thank you, Mr. Tiefenbach for going above and beyond and showing us what Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop looks like in action. You keep WHS connected, supported, and unstoppable!

Virtue Club Announcement
Are you looking for a place to grow in your faith and connect with fellow Christians? Come check out the Virtue Club! This is a student-led group where we encourage and support each other in our faith journey.
The Virtue Club meets every Friday at 7:30 AM in the high school cafeteria. Our kick-off meeting will be next Friday, September 5th, at 7:30 AM, and yes—donuts will be provided!
Everyone is invited, so come for fellowship, inspiration, and a great way to start your Friday morning. We’d love to see you there!
In order to receive your chrome book TODAY your parents must have updated enrollment in the parent powerschool portal and you must have signed the technology use agreement in your 3rd hour class. Your third hour teacher will be reviewing technology expectations in third hour today if they have not done so already.
If you are having problems with a locker, come to the guidance office.
A student driver must have a parking tag. Tags will be checked next week. If you do not have a parking tag for your car and it is parked in the student parking lot, come see Mrs. Richcreek.
Thursday, August 28th the Varsity Football team kicks off the 2025 season at home against Coloma at 7:00pm. This is the 116 year of this rivalry game. In addition to the bands new halftime show, we will be inducting two former Panthers into the athletic hall of fame, Ken Dietz and Mike Lynch.
Remember if you are a fall athlete or participated in a high school sport last spring you get into the game for free if you receive a pass from the athletic office. If you have not received one and you believe you should, please stop by the high school athletic office. Students who do not have a pass will not get free admission.
Lets pack the stands and cheer on our Panthers as we look to take down the neighbors down the road.
A reminder that there is no school this Friday and Monday due to the Labor Day weekend.
We will start documenting tardies on Tuesday of next week. Practice knowing where your classes are this week and getting to class on time before consequences for tardies kick in next week.
Tuesday of next week, we will run our first failure report of the new school year. If you have not turned something in that has already been required of you, you will be failing a class and your parents will receive the failing phone call. Get off to a good start and return everything that has been asked of you by your teachers.
Freshmen will be randomly called to the office starting next week . If you can show Ms. Powers that you are writing in your assignment notebook for all of your classes, you will receive a treat!
On Tuesday all dual enrolled students are asked to attend a 10 minute dual enrollment meeting at either 11 am or 12:30 An announcement will be made at that time.
At this time we ask you to stand. The privilege of this day was made possible by those who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms that we enjoy. Let us respect and honor their efforts by standing, placing our hands on our hearts, and reciting the pledge of allegiance. If you are wearing a hat, please remove it. I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Those are all of our announcements for today. Make it a great day or not Panthers, the choice is yours!
