Science Olympiad practice before school Thursday. The ecology event on how organisms interact with one another and with their environment.
Juniors and seniors are eligible to take the biliteracy test in order to earn a seal on your diploma and wear a serape at graduation. If you are interested the testing is in November and you lust sign up in the main office. The only seniors permitted to wear a serape at graduation are those who pass this test.
It is time for a dual enrollment grade check. All dual enrolled students, please show Mrs. Tyler your grades as soon as possible.
Boys’ Basketball tryouts are today! There will be teams at the Freshman, JV, and Varsity levels. Any interested students must be registered on Final Forms. See Mr. Linderman in Room 148 with any questions.
Would you like the Seal of Biliteracy on your diploma? The Seal of Biliteracy is for students who know English and at least one other language. Sign-up to take the test in the office by Tuesday, November 14

Thursday all sophomores will take a field trip to Olivet College. If you are in school and you are a sophomore, you will be attending this trip. Dress for the weather as you will be walking around campus.

Navy, Air Force, National Guard, and Marines Corps.

Sophomores heard from Ana Maack from the Van Buren Tech Center regarding all of the programming available at the Tech Center for Panthers starting in their Junior year. The Sophomore Class visit to the Tech Center will be December 8th. Students can attend in either the AM or PM and WHS provides bus transportation to and from the Tech Center if needed!

Are you interested in skilled trades, working with your hands, or learning about the latest technology? Lake Michigan College is hosting a Technology and Skilled Trades Visit Night on Tuesday November 7th. Students can learn about the skilled trades programs that LMC offers like welding and machine tool production, as well as technology programs like computer science, esports management, engineering, and cybersecurity. This event will take place from 5:30 to 7pm at LMC’s Benton Harbor campus.
The Debate Team will be practicing tomorrow after school. Please make transportation arrangements and plan to attend.

Attention juniors and seniors, there will be a visit to Hope College on Thursday, November 9. The first 45 students to sign up and return permission slips will be able to attend. Sign up and permission slips are available in the guidance office.

Congratulations to Gage McKie, Trevor Tavolacci, Christopher Parkhurst, and Dakoda Morrison on their fine performance at the MSVMA District 6 Tenor/Bass Invitational held at the Howard Performing Arts Center at Andrews University. The day consisted of rehearsals with conductor, Dr. Jacob Berglin, from Western Michigan University, and a culminating concert featuring a 70 voice invitational choir, and WMU vocal ensemble, Amphion, both conducted by Dr. Berglin. Great job!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WHS Marching Band who earned first place on Saturday in Flight 5 in Detroit in the State Marching Band competition!
Junior Daniel Mandujano raced against the best in the state and finished 24th overall in the Division 3 State Finals race in Brooklyn, Michigan. His finish earned him All-State honors. His time of 16:25 was a new personal best and equalled the fastest time by a Watervliet runner in the past 30 years. It was great race and capped off a great individual season.
Morgan Lowell ran a personal best time of 20:26 at the State Finals Cross Country meet in Brooklyn, Michigan. She finished in 75th place overall which was a big improvement from last year's 142nd place finish. She finishes her high school cross country career as the 3rd-fastest Panther of the last 30 years, a two-time state qualifier, and three-time All-Conference member.

DISTRICT VOLLEYBALL RESULTS:
Our Lady Panthers came out strong in the Championship District match against Bangor. Panthers served tough (13 team aces), passed well and ran a solid offense (36 team kills). The Panthers won in three straight sets. This group of athletes continue to learn and grow as a team focused on a common goal. Thank you to all the Panthers fans for your continued support.
Panthers will head to Fennville to play Muskegon Western Michigan Christian in the semi-final match of Regionals on Tuesday, 11/7/23 at 5:30pm.

There are no birthdays today.
Girls Varsity Volleyball won against Coloma in a semi-final match of Districts. The Panthers did a great job locking down their offense in set one and two preventing Coloma from gaining any momentum. In set three the Panthers struggled keeping the momentum and Coloma captured the win. In set four the Panthers led most of the match but Coloma continued to battle tieing the score 21-21. The battle continued but the Panthers came out on top winning the final set and the match.
Panthers will now face Bangor in the District Championship match on Thursday, 11/2/23 in Coloma starting at 6pm.
Thursday the gym will be open from 3:20 - 4:30. After each open gym, head over to Coloma to cheer on our volleyball team in the districts.
