Baseball
Varsity Baseball claims it’s 5th SAC Lakeshore Title in the last 6 years with 2 Wins over Bridgman!
Softball
Game 1: The Watervliet JV Panthers defeated Kalamazoo Christian 19-3 Tuesday behind a big day from Sophia Rader, who drove in four runs on three hits. The Panthers exploded for seven runs in the first inning and added five more in the third. Layla Klimkiewicz earned the win, while the team drew 10 walks and stole five bases. Top hitters included Rader (3 hits, 4 RBIs), Gianna Berry (hit, 3 RBIs), and Aiyanna Forrester (hit, 2 RBIs).
Game 2: Watervliet fell to Kalamazoo Christian 7-6 in a close matchup. Gianna Berry led the Panthers with two hits and two RBIs, while Aiyanna Forrester also collected two hits and an RBI. Mattie Medlin added two walks as Watervliet showed patience at the plate with five total walks.
The Varsity Panthers closed out their final divisional home game with an 11-1 win over Bridgman. After allowing a first-inning run, Watervliet answered with a 10-run second inning to take control. Emma Kirksey led the offense with a grand slam, single, and four RBIs, while Leila Liberto-Taylor added a single, double, and RBI. Rae Prestidge collected two hits, and Ava Trapp doubled and drove in a run. Kirksey also earned the win in the circle, allowing one earned run over five innings with three strikeouts.
In game 2, The Panthers rallied from a 10-2 deficit to earn an extra-inning comeback win in the nightcap. Mackenzie Birmele tied the game with a two-run single, and Leila Liberto-Taylor delivered the game-winning sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. Birmele also earned the win in relief, allowing just one earned run over 4.1 innings.
