🏅 Sports Update
Boys' Varsity Basketball lost a tough, hard fought game to Allegan 39-35 on Winterfest night. Watervliet started off slow, as Allegan jumped out to a 26-13 halftime lead. Using a tremendous defensive effort, the Panthers roared back, outscoring Allegan by 9 in the second half but ultimately couldn't complete the comeback in the end. Watervliet's second half energy was sparked by the defense and rebounding of Ashton Coleman, DeAndre Rose, and Remington Burke. Leading the scoring for the Panthers were Jayden Brassard (9), Brayden Harasewicz (8), and Kyle Domingo-Sturgeon (7). Watervliet will take on South Haven next Tuesday (2/3) at 7:00 pm at home.
JV Lady Panthers Fall to Schoolcraft, 31–27
The Panthers hosted Schoolcraft on Saturday in a makeup game and led most of the way after a strong first half. Watervliet jumped out to a 12–6 lead after one quarter and carried a 20–12 advantage into halftime. Schoolcraft rallied in the second half, holding the Panthers to just two points in the third quarter and taking the lead late in the fourth. The Eagles sealed the win with free throws in the final seconds. The Panthers return to action Thursday at Bridgman.
Scoring: Braelyn Campbell 8; Ava Thomas & Gianna Berry 7 each; Rader 2; Alex Zuniga, Marley Alsup & Katelyn Brown 1 each.
There was plenty of action for the Varsity wrestlers this weekend, with Panthers participating in four different individual tournaments.
On Friday evening the girls went to St. Joe finishing 8th out of 24 teams. Ellie Norman earned three pins to take first and Brooklyn Woollett earned two pins and finished second.
The girls would be at it again on Saturday in Fennville,

Pledge of Allegiance
At this time, please stand. The privilege of this day is made possible by those who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms we enjoy. Please place your right hand over your heart and remove your hat if you are wearing one.
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
Those are all of our announcements for today. Make it a great day… or not, Panthers, the choice is yours. 🐾
