Last night marked the opening of the Kalamazoo Institute of Art High School Show. This prestigious juried competition drew over 300 entries from nine counties around Southwest Michigan. Congratulations go out to Moriah Rao and Alyssa Schlender who were honored to have their art accepted into the show. In addition, both students won honors. Moriah won a juror’s award with a cash prize for a ceramic ugly jug titled Morning Face. Alyssa received a $3,000 renewable scholarship, for four years to Olivet College for her colored pencil drawing titled Nature’s Beauty. Way to represent Watervliet!
